Hi, I’m Valerie.
I’m a speech-language pathologist who provides Structured Literacy intervention, and a mom of four who believes children learn best when they feel successful, supported, and excited to come back.
If your child is hard to understand, struggling with reading, or finding school more difficult than it should be, you’ve come to the right place.
I believe every child deserves to feel confident expressing themselves, sharing their ideas, and discovering the joy of learning. My work goes far beyond speech sounds and reading skills. It’s about helping children build the communication and literacy skills that carry into the classroom, onto the playground, around the dinner table, and everywhere in between.

Why I Do This
My path to becoming a speech-language pathologist started with my own family.
Growing up, my brother stuttered, and I saw firsthand how much speech therapy changed his life. Speaking became easier, but that was only part of it. I watched him become more comfortable sharing his thoughts, speaking up, and being himself. Watching him grow in confidence showed me that communication is about so much more than words, and that experience ultimately inspired the path I’m on today.
I’ve always loved working with children, and some of my favorite moments are the ones when a child realizes, “I did it!” It might be saying a new sound, reading a sentence independently, telling a story that others understand, or raising a hand in class for the first time.
Those moments are why I love what I do.
My Approach
Children learn best when they feel comfortable, successful, and excited to come back.
Sessions at Gotham Learning Partners are engaging, interactive, and shaped around each child’s interests. We play games, read books, solve problems, laugh together, and celebrate every step forward.
Parents often tell me their child has no idea how hard they’re working because they’re having so much fun.
That is exactly how I want it to feel.
Every game, book, conversation, and activity is chosen with purpose, helping children build meaningful communication and literacy skills while making therapy something they look forward to each week.
I also believe children make the greatest progress when families, teachers, and therapists work together. Having worked in both schools and private practice, I understand how important it is for skills to carry beyond our sessions. Whether it’s participating in class, reading with confidence, making a new friend, or telling you about their day at the dinner table, those are the moments that matter most.
A Little About Me
When I’m not working, I’m usually with my husband and our four children. You’ll often find me cheering from the sidelines at one of their sporting events, planning our next family trip, reading a good book, or enjoying a Broadway show.
Being a mom has made me even more aware that every child is different and every family is balancing a lot. Support should feel helpful and realistic, not like one more thing added to a parent’s plate.
I’m always learning. Whether I’m reading new research, taking courses, or exchanging ideas with colleagues, I’m always looking for better ways to support the children, families, and schools I work with.
